It is beautiful to watch how women are slowly getting well-deserved attention. This has been an uphill battle, an incredibly tough one to say the least. 2021 started on a great note, with Kamala Harris becoming the first female Vice President of USA and our own Ngozi Okonjo Iweala as the new Director General of the World Trade Organization.

Our eyes are twinkling with hope, it is finally happening, we are being heard, we are being seen, our voices may indeed matter. Oh, what a time to be alive!

#BelikeNgoziChallenge — my claim to twitter fame (one day fame but whatever..)

I was so excited that I joined the #BelikeNgoziChallenge, and yeah…

Several years ago, Chinny Ugoji left her corporate job at GTBank to join a startup faith-based organization as the Head of Media and Communications.

That could have been career suicide but Mercy said No. Also, Chinny is not one to run away from a challenge. She brought her marketing comms skills to shore and redefined the role of media and communications in helping to grow the ‘startup’ to one of the largest faith-based organizations in Nigeria (Yes, I know I could just say ‘Church’ but then what’s the fun in that).

Communication Professionals in faith-based organizations rarely any industry recognition or awards, yet they help build some of the biggest brands in the country. But I digress.

Chinny Ugoji has pushed beyond the conventional…

It is easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind that we lose sight of the big picture. This is a reminder that your self-respect and self-worth are not tied to a job, title or company.

Of course, work is central to our lives and a good career can be a major part of anyone’s life. You have worked hard, the dream job is here and you literarily can see the admiration in the eyes of people when you mention what you do and the company. These are undoubtedly well deserved and you should be proud.

However, It is…

I truly believe that the concept of Marketing in itself has not changed, the way Marketing is being done on the other hand has evolved astronomically, as a result the skillset required to do the job has also changed. Reality is what got us here as marketers may not take us there to becoming successful Marketing Leaders of the future.

New Year, New Decade. 2020 is special and symbolic for many reasons. It is basically a symbol of new beginnings.

I never considered 2019 as the end of a decade, until I started to see the 2009 vs 2019 social media showdown. All I could think of was 10years was gone. 10 freaking years! thats like a lot of time, right?

In a world obsessed with early successes and achievements, let me be the one to bring in the message of hope to the late bloomers.

A late bloomer is a person whose talents or capabilities are not visible to…

I knew this day would come. The last 10 years should have prepared me for this. Yet I wasn’t ready.

My Dad died last week on the 7th November, 2019. He was only 63 years, it hurts so bad. Friends and family have reached to know how I was holding up, truth is I haven’t able to let any of it out. I just don’t know how to. I am not ready. Would writing this help? I will find out. When loved one dies, all that you have left are the memories shared and stories told.

You see my Dad…

About 11 months ago, I had my baby boy. He was a perfect lil thing, melted my heart. Super gorgeous, curly hair, dreamy eyes, looked like a million dollars….Okay, that’s enough. So where was I? Yes, I had my baby and barely 2 months after, I started the Brand Experience course at Orange Academy in Lagos. At that point in my life, I needed to be more strategic about my career choices so had to make the decision to start immediately or wait till second quarter 2019, decided on the former. My son was breastfeeding exclusively, yet every Saturday and…

Do not fall for the hype, Data is a new type of resource that needs to be understood on its own.

Really? Not so fast

I personally believe that the metaphor — ‘Data is the new oil’ is currently being overhyped. The hype that seem to be way ahead of its time.

Before you think I must be nuts, I believe in data, it is incredibly valuable to validate, support and measure decisions. The hype may just be way ahead of its time!

Data has been consistently been compared to Oil for some feeble reasons. Until we begin to treat data as a different…

11year old Nigerian Artist drew French President Macron in Two hours!

The only award I ever got in High School was that of Overall Best Student in Fine Art. Seems like such a waste now…well maybe not. I used to be good at drawing, in fact technical drawing was one of my favourite courses. The only snag was I had no interest in pursuing it as a career, I mean, apart from the fact that I wasn’t so passionate about it, it is common knowledge that only a handful of fine artist get to earn a decent living and hey my African parents wouldn’t have entertained that kind of career move.

This is for my Nigerian Friends…Tag your mentor and tell them #yourcountryneedsyou.

This is a call to all of our mentors, too many to ignore, this generation of talented and influential men and women have shown us that with hard work, discipline, and calculated actions, success in life and business is inevitable. We saw with amazement and gladness a corporate professional become the Ooni of Ife. We can’t wait for all the great works in store for YorubaLand.

We need our mentors who have spent time building their business, creating jobs and breaking the boundaries for our generation to RISE up,form a movement and…
